Many homeowners might consider clover a weed, but I have made a practice of including clover when I seed a bare spot in the lawn. This year, in fact, we decided to give our vegetable garden a rest and plant clover instead of vegetables.

There are few wild honeybees left in New Jersey, from what I have read and have been told. This honeybee, then, most likely lives in a hive maintained by a hobbyist beekeeper. There are commercial apiaries in New Jersey but I don’t believe any are close enough to Passaic for their bees to find their way to our neighborhood.

It is encouraging to see honeybees in our neighborhood.
