Cedar Waxwings at the Turtleback Zoo

Jody and I took Caleb and Sadie to the Turtleback Zoo today. They are spending the week with us at Camp Grandma. There are always lots of fun things to see and do at Turtleback Zoo, including the Sea Lion exhibit, which is new this year.

As we were getting ready to leave Caleb and I passed several bushes with small cherry-like fruit in them. A group of three birds in one of the bushes attracted my attention. They were Cedar Waxwings. I know that these birds are fairly common in some parts of Northern New Jersey but I had never seen them before. The sight of these birds by itself was almost worth the price of admission to the zoo, but the fun that we also had with Caleb and Sadie more than made the price worth it.
